Healthy Eating and Drinking at Breaktimes
For our infant pupils (Nursery to Year 2), free school milk is available as well as cold water from the water fountain. You are welcome to send your child to school with fruit, veg or cheese and crackers. Please do not send them with sweets, chocolate, crisps, cereal bars etc.
For the junior classes (Year 3 to Year 6) our year 6 pupils operate a truck trolley with a wide range of fruit and vegetables available. There is a charge for this as follows:
Tuck Pass for the week = £1
Tuck for the day = 25p
Children do not have to buy their tuck from the trolley, however, we do insist that they only bring healthy choices – children must not bring crisps, chocolate/cereal bars, fizzy/fruit drinks etc for breaktime snacks.
Drinking Water and Water Bottles
In line with national guidance, we make sure that pupils have easy access at all times to fresh drinking water, with cooled water fountains in the infant and junior areas. Under the Healthy Eating Regulations - Wales, water containing sweeteners, sugars, honey, colouring or flavouring is not permitted.
Children are welcome to bring their own drinks bottles, but if you’d rather, we have specific refillable water bottles for the children and these are available for sale from the school secretary (£1).
All drinks bottles must only contain water, please.
